Kacherawala Primary School
India
AKP Project Since 2018
Category:
AKP creates a space for rural children to enjoy happy, healthy, and positive childhood on the outskirts of Jaipur
Overview
Over the past few years, the schools in Rajasthan have dramatically improved through various schemes and programs implemented by the Department of Education. However, the scale of need within the state of Rajasthan is too high for the government to address on its own; and, it seeks support from outside organizations in order to dramatically reduce the funding gap that impacts students across the state.
In our mission to provide supportive learning environments to our partner communities, AKP initiated a complete renovation of Kacherawala Primary School, just outside of Jaipur, India, through the generosity of an A&K guest. With the help of our partner NGO, we identified the school’s greatest needs and the work was carried out in the holistic way, with the involvement of community.
AKP has facilitated construction of a boundary wall with drainage, completely built the roof, renovated the toilets with water supply, constructed units for hand washing, utensil washing, as well as a drinking water station. And most importantly, prior to AKP involvement the school had no electricity; we helped install solar panels and now the school has uninterrupted supply of electricity. Another important addition to the school was access to a digital classroom. The school children now also enjoy a new reading corner with more than 300 books.
