AKP is restoring cultural world treasures in Florence

Overview

There is a global effort underway to help restore the monuments that are the cultural heritage of Florence and are regarded as world treasures. AKP has been an active part of this global effort for the past several years. Currently, our support is directed to The Chapel of the Madonna of Giambologna, an artistic gem of the Renaissance period in Santissima Annunziata (Church of the Annunciation). This church is considered one of the top must-see churches in Florence.

Visit this Project

Go off the beaten path to the 13th-century Basilica of Santissima Annunziata, where you will look in on an ambitious restoration project sponsored by Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy. Accompanied by a member of the small, on-site team of art restorers, visit the Giambologna Chapel, one of the Basilica’s many side chapels. Observe firsthand how restorers bring out the original features of its Renaissance artworks, which might otherwise be lost forever.

Guests traveling on the Luxury Small Group Journey Italian Treasures: Rome, Florence & Venice visit Save the Florentine Monuments. A&K can also include a visit to Save the Florentine Monuments on a Tailor Made Journey to Italy. Call our offices in Australia, the UK or the USA for assistance in creating an itinerary just for you.
