Our History

Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy (AKP), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the philanthropic arm of Abercrombie & Kent (A&K). The organization traces its beginnings back to 1982 when A&K Vice Chairman Jorie Butler Kent, together with A&K Founder, Chairman and CEO Geoffrey Kent, first raised funds for conservation efforts in the Masai Mara National Reserve of Kenya.

Today, AKP carries on A&K’s social and environmental commitments on a global scale with approximately 30 projects on all seven continents. Guests of A&K have the opportunity to visit these projects and support the further development of AKP’s investments in the natural and cultural heritage of diverse destinations around the world.
