GLOBAL EMERGENCY RELIEF
It’s a tragic fact that earthquakes, pandemics, wildfires, floods and other disasters are on the rise around the world. And yet when disaster strikes, we can take some solace that the best of humanity often shines through. The bravery of first responders, medical personnel and ordinary everyday people can mean the difference between life or death, hardship or hope, helplessness or resolve. We at A&K are very proud to count many of our fine people among these everyday heroes.
Since 2008, AKP has empowered A&K’s international network to respond to natural and other disasters with its Global Emergency Relief Fund, bringing the resources of more than 3,000 staff in over 65 offices and 40 countries to bear on the frontlines of the world’s most pressing emergencies. Drawing on their resources and knowledge, the tour operators of our local offices work in lockstep with local agencies to load their vehicles and deliver food, water, medical supplies, basic shelter and hygiene essentials when and where it’s needed most.
In recent years, this network has shone brightly in some of humanity’s darkest moments. A&K personnel have assisted in relief efforts spanning Myanmar’s 2008 cyclone, Nepal’s 2015 earthquake, India’s 2018 flooding, Australia’s 2020 wildfires, the global COVID-19 pandemic, Morocco’s 2023 earthquake, Brazil’s 2024 flooding and many more disasters.
Through the Global Emergency Relief Fund, AKP has provided tens of thousands of dollars to reimburse these local offices for their humanitarian efforts, with many offices reciprocating with thousands of dollars of in-kind support. With the continued guest support of our Global Emergency Relief Fund, AKP will be ready to assist when the next disaster strikes.
“Before, we used to sleep under an open sky. Now, due to A&K’s help and support, we have a tent as a shelter. Our pain and sorrow have been relieved to a great extent by A&K.” — Survivor of Nepal’s 2015 earthquake, Kavrepalanchok District
