Worldwide, one in 10 people lack access to clean water. Access to clean water is one of the UN’s sustainable development goals and providing it creates an immediate, tangible improvement to these communities. Since 2017, AKP has partnered with LifeStraw, makers of an accessible water filtering and purification device, to provide safe water to thousands of children in India, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia.
Costing around $550, this easy-to-deliver filtration device removes 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, and parasites, solving a major health crisis and helping ensure that children are well enough to attend school. AKP has funded and distributed 829 filtration systems in schools, as we believe this is the most equitable location with the most far-reaching impact. Each filter can serve up to 100 children for a period of five years.
When the program first started, we were proud to be delivering sustainable, safe water to children in the Maasai Mara. Since then, we have funded the program in seven countries around the world where A&K guests travel.
